In the evening from 19:00 - 20:00 all attendees and their registered accompanying persons are invited to join the come together party in the Ceremonial Hall of the historical main building of the Vienna University of Technology. Congress Concert

There is a special connection between the Vienna University of Technology and music. At the location of the TU Freihaus, where the ICU takes place, there was the "Royal and Imperial private theatre on the Wieden" from 1785 to 1809. The opera "Magic Flute" by W. A. Mozart was performed here first in 1791 and was repeated 223 times. Johann Strauß Jr. was a student of the commercial faculty of the Vienna University of Technology, but he turned to music already after 2 years. Thus, he can be regarded as the most famous dropout student of the Vienna University of Technology (the former Royal and Imperial Polytechnic Institute).

In acknowledging this special connection between the Vienna University of Technology and music, Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in the evening from 19:00 - 20:30, a special concert will be performed in the main lecture hall (HS1, where also the opening ceremony takes place). Performers are the ladies choir Ensemble-Indigo (Conductor: Christian Fraberger) together with the Student Orchestra of the Vienna University of Technology (Conductor Andreas Fellner).

Ensemble Indigo . TU Orchester

The highlights of the concert program will be very rarely performed vocal versions of Viennese Waltzes and Polkas, e.g.:

  • Hereinspaziert! (Come in!), Viennese Waltz, Carl M. Ziehrer
  • Frühlingsstimmenwalzer (Voices of Spring), Viennese Waltz, Johann Strauß Jr.
  • Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, Johann Strauß Jr.
  • Donauwalzer (Danube Waltz), Viennese Waltz, Johann Strauß Jr.

The ticket price is included in the registration fee for all registered attendees. During the break complementary snacks and drinks will be offered.

Congress Dinner

Wednesday, April 11, 2007, 19:00, the Mayor of Vienna will invite all attendees to the Congress Dinner at the "Große Festsaal" (the large Ceremonial Hall) of the Vienna "Rathaus" (City Hall). Within the historical ambient of the Ceremonial Hall, a dinner composed of genuine Austrian as well as international cuisine will be served. There will also be an opportunity for dancing (Viennese Waltz and Tango).
